Well, it’s official - Seitz in goal for Monday
By: Ian Rose | April 27th, 2007It’s the rules of the herd. When everything is going well, the wise old leader is unquestioned. When things start to fall apart, it’s up to the younger members of the group to step up and take over. And things have definitely fallen apart in Salt Lake City, after a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Chivas USA. The most obvious problem in that game was the decision-making of keeper Nick Rimando, who has frankly been unsteady in all three of his starts. Going into a huge rivalry match with Colorado, a match that could make all the difference in this young season, head coach John Ellinger has made his choice, and he’s going with the young buck. Chris Seitz will start between the posts on Monday. I think it’s not only the prudent and right choice - it was absolutely necessary. Rimando really gave that game away, and gave Real no chance to succeed. A goalkeeper rarely wins a game for a team - but he is responsible for keeping them in it, giving them a chance to win, and Rimando failed at that task. I’m not sure that Seitz is ready - to be fair, I haven’t seen him play - but this is his chance to shine. Let’s hope he takes advantage, for his own good, and the good of the team. A clean sheet and/or a win against the CRapids, and he goes from bench-warmer to local hero in one week flat. Good luck, Chris.

I picked your bunch to win - at least in my space. I don’t even remember what I chose in the official predicitions league. I’m hoping I get a chance to see Seitz play; I’ve seen Rimando and….and…words fail me just now.

Chris played very well against Kansas City. Frankly, the Wizzards are a better team than the Rapids. The backliners,Talley and Kries, are going to have to protect the Rookie. I still think right back is going to be the side in which you see Col. attack. Do we see the kid from Africa tonight? I just wonder where the shots are going to come from? Andy is out and Medhi seems reluctant to let it fly.
