The people’s post: RSL-United
By: Fitz | April 12th, 2008I’ll start by providing some links. For your reading pleasure …
The preview in the Deseret News.
The preview in the Salt Lake Tribune.
The preview in the Washington Post.
The official, MLS-sanctioned preview. I wouldn’t trust the RSL lineup, by the way. It’s how they lined up against Chivas and I doubt Jason Kreis will use it.
Now, for my take. I’m reading all this “must-win” stuff and I’m not sure I fall for it. RSL will noty hit its stride until June. I really believe that. There are too many new faces and too many options. I’d like to see a point. But we still don’t know what RSL’s best team is yet. We don’t know if we’re overreacting on Carey Talley’s poor outing, if Nathan Sturgis is really the answer, if Javi Morales is worth nearly a quarter-million … and on and on. So the tinkering continues today, and meanwhile, I’m hoping for a result that’s not a loss.
Post your thoughts before, after and during the game.
Go Red Sox.

lol you guys are kicking our butts right now…nice. your field cracks me up though, why on earth don’t they give you a stadium?
y’all have the best jerseys in MLS though, and Beckerman for all his hair tragedies is better than I thought he was.
for real though nice job beating our butts. it’s been a while since I’ve had a good laugh at a futbol match.

Catherine-Lucia –> The soccer-specific stadium is coming. It’s being built in Sandy, which is outside of Salt Lake City. RSL is hoping to play its final one or two regular-season games there. Rice-Eccles, home of University of Utah is the only legit option until then, and like many college football fields the FieldTurf is cheaper in the long run because it costs less to maintain.
Odd dichotomy about RSL — the league’s worst name and the best unis.

thank goodness. if anyone needs a stadium it’s you guys. and although numbers lie I’d say you’ve earned it!!! lol.
what’s wrong with the name ‘Real Salt Lake’? I like that name. Then again I’m big on Spanish football. Still. It’s better than ‘Galaxy,’ ‘Earthquakes,’ etc.
