RSL Announces “Game Insurance” for Tonight’s Match With Columbus

By: Rocky Cole | April 2nd, 2009

An interesting email was waiting for me when I logged onto the computer this afternoon. It was from RSL administration and was announcing “Game Insurance” for tonight’s home game at Rio Tinto Stadium. Now while it would have been cheeky for RSL to be “insuring” a win, and a tad presumptuous, the team is actually trying to get fans in the stands that might otherwise stay away because of the possibility of nasty weather as I mentioned in my game preview blog. Utah weather can be a bit iffy this time of year, and there is a possibility of light rain or snow around game time. If it happens to rain or snow between 6:30 and 10:00 at the stadium, fans can use their scanned ticket for tonight’s game to get into the Houston Dynamo game on the 15th. RSL wants a packed and vocal home crowd tonight, and is hoping that this deal will get people into their seats. This is some good “out of the box” thinking and I hope it’s successful. RSL wants to get some loud and enthusiastic supporters into the stadium and energize the team on the field. My previous blog was all about Home Field Advantage, and RSL is obviously doing its best to get it for tonight’s game. Kickoff is in less than an hour! Better get moving!
