Robbie Findley makes big splash in Salt Lake!
By: Wiz | June 25th, 2007Wow! So this is how it feels to win. We almost forgot that feeling until Robbie Findley scores two break away goals to beat D.C. United on his first start in a RSL jersey. I think RSL fans have already forgotten Chris Klein and Jeff Cunningham with that single performance. Since there are 11 guys on the field lets also give some credit to some worthy performances. You might think I’m nuts for listing him first and he wasn’t without some errors but most of the night Atiba Harris frustrated C. Gomez in a way that only the lanky defensive mid can do. It was funny to see Gomez show his frustration in such an obvious manner…tackling Harris, throwing elbows and just being completely ineffective. I liked the pairing of Alecko with Robbie. Those two together make it difficult on those center backs. I am a huge Andy Williams fan and have to say that I agree whole heartedly in putting him in at that attacking midfielder role. I could go on but all in all a great game by Findley and a solid performance by the team. We still need to close out stronger. Hopefully Nathan Strugis can provide the same impact in his position as his former L.A. Galaxy teammate has. This post may seem a little disjointed but it is only because I am so excited about this win.
A couple of things I would like some feed back on besides your thoughts on the game. 1-How do you see the line up changing with Freddy Adu back and a healthy Chris Brown? 2- Do you keep Talley out wide on the right or do you move him back to that defensive midfield position and move Atiba Harris out as a sub? 3- Do you like Mehdi out wide or do you think he is a better asset inside? 4- How does this win affect the team? (optional 5- How did you like the way D.C. finished the game….Olsen’s fouls, the number of high elbows etc…)

Eleven games as RSL blogger … no wins, one game away and they beat a pretty good team. I’m glad they won. I am … I just think it’s funny. I hope the squad can put together a little run and work their way back into respectability points-wise.

Ian, don’t take it personally. It was just a matter of time. You knew sooner or later someone was going to underestimate them and come into Salt Lake and get whacked by the altitude and the team’s desire to win. Impressive they did it with such a depleated bench/lineup. Did you read the DC guys post? No respect at all…that is why they got beat. DC was still going to play professionals even though they hadn’t won in a while they still know how to play. You just can’t look past anyone.

The Curse of Ian is broken. Nice to see them finally win. I think they have found themselves a player in Findley. I saw him play for Oregon State a few times and came away impressed.
