Real Salt Lake…Under Construction!
By: Wiz | June 22nd, 2007This year has seen RSL change managers, have the GM resign, see the leading scorer retire then hired as manager, have the Golden Boot winner traded to upstart Toronto FC, Eddie Pope announce his retirement, welcome Freddy Adu to the line up then see him benched, have the hyped Cental American striker turn out to be a bust, see one of last years strengths (the backline) turn into mush, Chris Kline off to L.A. and last but not least…a change in bloggers! What does the recent trade mean for the club? On the surface: youth with skill and desire, free up more salary cap and see us poised to make a big signing or two. More on the trade and game notes for the up coming D.C. United game to come later. Leave your opinions on the recent trade or anything RSL related.

Haven’t they been building for the past three years? Maybe they need some new building materials because the current frame doesn’t seem to be very strong.

Resign is what I meant.

I always liked Kleiner, but certainly something has to change, and shuffling the deck seems like the only option left to Coach Kreis these days. I hope Sturgis and Findley can help right the ship.

Peter: I agree with you and I believe that is what is happening now with the new signings. However, there is still no GM and the front office seems to be a wreck. (example: Jeff Cassar signed as assistant coach=20K fine from league, loss of 2nd round draft pick, FIFA looking into why Forko wasn’t playing for his country’s game in African nations tourny (Liberia),etc…)
Johny: Thanks for pointing that out. My fingers were moving faster than my brain. Wait, isn’t your name suppose to have TWO “N”’s in it?!
Arelius: Resign is what I meant too and what I wrote. It is interesting that Ellinger and Kreis are both/together filling that role. I don’t think that can go on forever. It will be interesting to see who that GM spot attracts and if that means more movement in that front office. What are your thoughts?
Ian: Klein was a solid vet with a great work ethic. I was never a fan of his game though. It seemed to be too linear. Run straight up and down with no diagonal runs at all and no left foot ( which makes his last goal sooo amazing…a rocket from his left).
