One Lapse and Boom
By: Rocky Cole | August 1st, 2009
Yura Movsisyan left tonight’s Chicago game with a rotator cuff injury, and although Real played tough defense against the Fire for 75 minutes, one defensive lapse and a Chicago goal was all it took for the Fire to earn full point and Real to go home with nothing. Chicago has played well defensively of late, and a good defense means you don’t have to put a lot of points on the board to win. That was the case tonight.
There were good things that happened in the game, and the late entry of Andy Williams was appreciated by the Chicago crowd, but Williams late entry couldn’t put Real over the top. Chicago is a good team, and Real still struggles on the road. Tonight, even with Chicago holding some players back to keep them fresh for the Super Liga final next Wednesday, they still pulled off a win. Now, entering August and the downhill sprint to the playoffs, every point is crucial. Real, has a full week to regroup before their next match at home against Seattle. The playoffs are still within reach, but Houston, Seattle, Galaxy, Chivas, and Colorado have designs on playoff spots as well. Every match from here on out will be big.

Late entry of Andy is never a good thing. I think Andy is better when he starts a game.
