MLS Predictor League: Week 5

By: Ian Rose | May 15th, 2007

Well, the MLS season marches on. This week, we saw the league’s first goal, and first win, for a Canadian team, and some great matches overall. Peter continues to lead in the Offside’s MLS Predictor League - overall standings can be found HERE - but the pack behind him is tighter than ever. Yes, I realize that the tables are only updated through Saturday’s game - I’ll fix that later today, but I wanted to give people as much chance as possible to get their entries in, especially since there’s a Wednesday game. Here are the matches for this week, with my predictions in brackets. Good luck everyone.

Wednesday
Toronto FC v. Houston Dynamo [TFC 1-2 HO]

Thursday
Chicago Fire v. FC Dallas [CHC 2-1 DA]

Saturday
Toronto FC v. DC United [TFC 1-0 DC]
NY Red Bull v. Columbus Crew [NY 1-1 CBS]
Houston Dynamo v. New England Revolution [HO 1-3 NE]
Colorado Rapids v. Kansas City Wizards [CO 1-2 KC]

Sunday
Chivas USA v. LA Galaxy [CHV 1-2 LA]
FC Dallas v. Real Salt Lake [DA 1-2 RSL] (Finally, a win … ?)

No, pizzas eating people is the fourth sign of the apocalypse, just after SALT LAKE winning.

Any chance we could add average pts per pick to the overall table - so losers like me who haven’t done all the games can make themselves feel better (or perhaps worse?)?

Tom - I’ll add something like that … but a good week can still pretty much put anyone in at least the top four. I’ll add a few more stats to the league table after this week.

Crap. You’re killin’ me…or the league schedulers are…hopefully this gets in under the wire.

    Here goes:

    TFC 0 - 1 Houston

    Fire 0 - 0 FC Dallas

    TFC 2 - 1 DC United
    RBNY 0 - 0 Crew
    Houston 2 - 3 NE
    Rapids 2 - 1 KC

    Chivas 1 - 2 LAG
    FCD 1 - 1 RSL

And I am SO pissed I’ve got to watch the Crew v. Red Bull game….

Sorry Jeff. Luckily, I don’t have to really check the time too close to see if you made it in under the wire, since the Toronto game didn’t go your way. I’ll try harder to get them in earlier - Wednesday games make it harder.
