MLS Predictor League: Week 4

By: Ian Rose | May 7th, 2007

Alright, let us all make our predictions and take on Peter for the top spot in the league. Most of us, certainly myself included, had a tough week last week – how will we respond? Will we get more conservative, hoping for another 1-1 draw Kansas City-Columbus-style, or will we go on out limbs hoping to get those longshot picks, like the 3-3 RSL-RBNY tie? There is certainly room to get in for new folks, and for those of us that have games under our belts already, the table is still wide open. Here we go!

Tuesday
US Open Cup qualifier: LA Galaxy v. Red Bull New York [LA 0-2 NY]

Thursday
Colorado Rapids v. Real Salt Lake [CO 2-2 RSL]

Saturday
Toronto FC v. Chicago Fire [TFC 1-3 CHC] (GOOOOOAAAALLL Toronto)
Columbus Crew v. Chivas USA [CBS 1-0 CHV]
Kansas City Wizards v. FC Dallas [KC 2-1 DA]
LA Galaxy v. New England Revolution [LA 1-2 NE]

Sunday
Red Bull New York v. Colorado Rapids [NY 2-0 CO]

You’re predicting not one but TWO losses for my Gals?

    I don’t THINK so!

Well, what DO you think? Until you post your predictions, you’re just yelling and not backing it up.

Okay, fine. Let’s get this written down before I leave town tomorrow morning. It can’t be worse than last week, right? Actually, maybe I’ll just copy Peter’s and be done with it. Let’s see, first game, LA Galaxy wins. Good start!

But I guess I should strike out on my own, huh? Okay.

Yeah…what did Peter have to say…

Ah, hell with it. I’d rather fail than copy (though, for the record, I’m not looking and may accidentally match Peter’s calls). All I know is, the bastards who schedule this league aren’t giving us time to friggin’ breath!

    Right. Enough whining: calls away:

US OC: LA 1-0 RBNY (to the sound of bursting bubbles)

Rapids 2-0 RSL (It’s over, Jason; no offense, Ian)

TFC 0-1 Fire (a can of warm domestic sez TFC misses again)
C’bus 0-0 Chivas (and no one sees it happen)
KC 2-2 FCD (should be a good ‘un; Wizards exposed!)
    LA 0-1 NE (Twellman sparkles!!)

    RBNY 1-0 Rapids (bubble reinflates)

And, with that, I’ve overcome my fear of calling draws.

Wow. I managed a close match with Peter’s. Sorry, Peter. You have, without question, just been jinxed.

Stupid Santino Quaranta, scoring that third goal in the 120th minute to ruin my perfect game.

    Oh, wait. We won!

Glad you got back on board, Michael – yeah, chances are you wouldn’t have gotten many points from TFC 3-1 Chicago anyway – No one else did.
