Is There Such A Thing As A Moral Win In Defeat?
By: Wiz | September 10th, 2007It was once said that only losers take pride in a loss, any loss. The argument continues along those lines that once you accept a moral victory in defeat you will allow mediocrity to become acceptable. Do you believe this? At one time I would allow this type of thinking to creep into my life. I thought that second place was first loser. I don’t believe this type of thinking can carry over to every facet of life. Sure there are times when this philosophy could/should exist but should it be applied to RSL and their performance against the defending champions? I am not so sure. I liked the fight, the intensity of the comeback. There was a desire to win and drive to score. The Argentines have brought with them some bite and it has been infectious. 4-3 loss at the Dynamo’s home field…looking to win not just walk away with points, that is what I want to see. In a time of the season where most teams would have just packed it in and tried to play for a draw my team fought and came close. I believe you can take something positive from this, a moral victory if you will. RSL will not lay down, we will play until the last whistle and we will play to win (a celebrated change).

Dave,
The Argies are like Kings around here! We’re going to have to put up the chainlink fences around the pitch and start littering the playing field with streamers so they feel more at home!Posted from
