Goodbye Mehdi. Welcome to RSL Kyle. So Who’s next?
By: Wiz | July 17th, 2007I do not disagree with this trade. In fact I think we got the better end of this one. The front office is making moves to bolster a weak defense. Sturgis, Wingert and now Beckerman. I enjoyed watching Mehdi’s footwork but it never seemed to progress to anything. At the same time, Mehdi did have to gather the ball deep in his own defensive third often which made it hard to play to his stengths. He is a solid possesion player but had no real offensive threat. And with his departure I will not have to suffer through his errant outswinging corner kicks. This move also implies that Andy Williams has earned the attacking midfielder position (for now, pending a move for a DP) and we may see a more consistent attack. Tactically, what does this mean? Where will Beckerman be most useful? With Harris playing well in the holding position and Talley also being a proficient holding midfielder, who will we see back there and who will play right midfield? Will Jason switch back to a 4-5-1? What do you guys think?

i’ve always liked beckerman. he’s got the hard hitting feel to him where in my opinion mehdi was more “soft”. real needs plenty of help. and i mean plenty. this is definitely a now fix. i really hope jay-jay is on his way here. and why not go after juan riquelme?
