Expect Some Fireworks During the RSL/Toronto FC Match

RSL welcomes Toronto FC to Rice Eccles Stadium on the annual 4th of July match. This time there is more to anticipate than just the fireworks show at the end of the game. It is our Independence Day and we’re playing the smug, jealous, anti-American Canadians! Not to mention that RSL has to prove that they won’t lose the momentum gained by their last performance. Then there is the pressure of not wanting to lose to the new expansion team, especially one from Canada on one of the most attended matches of the year. As if this weren’t enough, it will mark the return of last years’ Golden Boot winner and former RSL striker Jeff Cunningham to Salt Lake City. The tension between Jeff and coach Kreis is something that came to a head when Jason took over the managerial position earlier in the year. It is no secret that the two had stylistic differences that eventually had Cunningham shipped to Toronto for Alecko Eskandarian and a first round draft pic. This will be the show. Jeff will try to showcase his “underrated” skills and prove Kreis was wrong while Alecko will do his best to show RSL got the better player. Will RSL’s defenders play a rough game and enforce their will on their former teammate? Will Toronto play their new signing…Collin Samuel (Trinidad and Tobago, former Falkirk and Dundee United striker)? I can say this, RSL’s defenders will have to be physical against Dichio and Cunnignham to keep the balls out of the net. One thing we do have is speed on the outside and now with Robbie Findley we have the speed up front and the ability to counter attack quickly. It should be a very competitive match and a very physical one as well. I predict a win and a lot of fouls.

  Watson and Kyle Brown? What was Kipre doing in that bad of a position? Where was the intensity in the second half? Does Carey Talley even worry defenses out wide? What a crappy, dismal result!
