Adu scores for US under 20’s
By: Ian Rose | March 31st, 2007I’m a bit late on this one, having been distracted by Euro 2008 on Wednesday, but recent RSL transfer Freddy Adu, who holds for many Salt Lake fans the hopes of the team on his young shoulders, managed a penalty goal in the 2-1 US Under-20 win over Haiti. Otherwise, his play seems to have been adequate but not particularly thrilling, but at least he can fall in the box – RSL will take the goals however they come. The Under-20 team will be a bit of a sore spot for Salt Lake fans, as the Under-20 World Cup will take Adu away for the better part of a month, but at least (unlike teams like the Galaxy, who play approximately three friendlies a day) this is one of the few non-MLS distractions for the Real Salt Lake side this season. We’ll see how Adu does tonight in Salt Lake’s last pre-season match (It’s SO close now…) against their hated rivals the Colorado Rapids.
