It’s All About Intensity – and 29 Shots and 6 Goals Never Hurts

By: Rocky Cole | Comments 2 Comments

What can I say about the game that Real Salt Lake played against the New England Revolution that hasn’t already been said? I mean, six goals in the second half, and lest it be construed that RSL was putting weak shots in, I point to the goals by Clint Mathis and Andy Williams, both of [...]

Real Takes on The Revolution

By: Rocky Cole | Comments No Comments

After last week’s game at The Meadowlands against The Red Bulls, Coach Jason Kreis defined the problem RSL seemed to be having as not one of “Roaditis” (a not so rare condition where teams cannot win on the road), but of “First-half-intensity deficit” (a syndrome where one’s team doesn’t seem to wake up for the [...]

Real Salt Lake falls to NY Red Bulls 2-0 at The Meadowlands

By: Rocky Cole | Comments 1 Comment

I’d like to say something good about the way that RSL played in the game against the Red Bulls, so… RSL’s uniforms looked FAN-TAS-TIC! As for RSL’s play, not so much. I was expecting a game where RSL would come out with some of the fire they’ve shown in the past few weeks, but instead [...]

Déjà vu All over Again?

By: Rocky Cole | Comments No Comments

Last November I’d wake up at three in the morning in a cold sweat screaming, “No, No, Not the Wood!” Yes, nightmares of the Western Conference Championship game between Real Salt Lake and the New York Red Bulls kept me up nights. That tragic game was at Rio Tinto Stadium and RSL had not yet [...]

Now, DC United rolls into Rio Tinto hoping that a win can push them further up their third place spot in [...]

Findley Rocks the House in RSL Win over Crew!

By: Rocky Cole | Comments 4 Comments

Robbie Findley rocked Rio Tinto Stadium in the first half of the game, scoring two unassisted goals, the second one basically walked into an open net, where the biggest defensive threat would have been tripping over his own shoe laces. In the second half he got his “hat trick” with an impressive header.
Honestly, I felt [...]

RSL Announces “Game Insurance” for Tonight’s Match With Columbus

By: Rocky Cole | Comments No Comments

An interesting email was waiting for me when I logged onto the computer this afternoon. It was from RSL administration and was announcing “Game Insurance” for tonight’s home game at Rio Tinto Stadium. Now while it would have been cheeky for RSL to be “insuring” a win, and a tad presumptuous, the team is actually [...]

Columbus Crew versus Real’s Potential Secret Weapon: HFA!

By: Rocky Cole | Comments No Comments

The Columbus Crew, defending MLS champions come into Real Salt Lake’s Rio Tinto stadium this Thursday night for RSL’s home opener. RSL began their 2009 campaign with a bye and then a disappointing loss in Seattle, but home has always been where RSL has played their best soccer. And if the Seattle Sounders offered one [...]
